Judgment Day

I’ve been accused of having a negative focus, and I will partly blame that on the Law of Jante. What more natural then than to think about Judgment Day? Well, it was accidental that I came over this book with a couple of quotes that caught my attention. With my negative focus it was simply the law of attraction and the universe’ answer to my inner calling (Ref The Secret), so I had it coming sooner or later!

Jesus said (according to Matt 25, 31); “Judgment Day will come and all people will have their sentence”. A question then arises in my mind. Is this; (1) one specific day, that no doubt will go down in history unless it wipes out all and everything, or (2) is it one day for each and every one of us like for instance the day we die?

If (1) a specific day in history: Jesus promised this day almost 2000 years ago (or thereabout) but still nothing?! You may go through Nostradamus’ (That’s one guy with a more negative focus than me by the way!) predictions one more time, with a different set of goggles to see if there is anything you should seriously worry about in your own life time. Jesus further said that evil/bad people will get their eternal punishment or eternal life (Matt 25, 46! I take it that this is supposed to be the heavenly counter offer to eternal punishment!). People who heard this live back in the days, and didn’t have to wait until Matt published and broadcasted it worldwide, have now waited 2000 years for Judgment Day… going on something eternal at least (Waiting). What is this waiting room like I wonder? Laws and legal systems are often founded on good religious values, so I presume that GOD will grant us the same benefit of the doubt. So if you’re innocent until proved otherwise, it should be like the eternal heaven for the mean time, right?

Besides, you can’t possibly bite nails daily for 2000 years! I’m sure those guys are quite chilled and relaxed about it, purgatory or whatever you call it. Imagine you are forced into a situation where your decision will no doubt lead you to eternal punishment (Hell I presume). When Judgment Day arrives that is! How long will your waiting period be, in heaven mind you? Another 2000, 6 or maybe even 10.000 years? Not bad at all I’d say, especially if you like to live NOW and not overly concerned about planning for old age and eternity! I never sold one life insurance or investment annuity of any kind that could match this prospect! Judgment Day is suddenly not so frightening any more, or negative!

(2) however, means that your time will come no matter what, and as soon as you’re dead, your trial starts. This is the propaganda that I grew up with, and to be damn honest – it’s a fair deal! There is really only an UP side to it if (1) should be the true destiny.

Paulus however has a very interesting interpretation that I want to believe in more than anything else out of sheer convenience! He concluded that the death of Jesus (+ some minor technicalities) means that GOD is able and prepared to in his/her Supreme Court to drop all charges against us! Paulus said that; “This, you accept when you believe and have faith, and mercy will come to you in this spirit”! GOD should really be careful and put this in very small print in his contracts. I was very excited to read this and see NO reason whatsoever to sign a contract with GOD after this. I believe in what I see (only!), that’s just the kind of guy I am. Since GOD never showed up in my presence, court or anywhere I’ve heard of, belief and faith is zip zero nada from me!

When my day comes, and I have to settle my life time deficits however, I will reconsider! When GOD presents himself/herself before me, I will have no reason to doubt his/her existence any more. I’m that easy to convince (Well, maybe I’ll pinch GOD’s arm just to check)! You can run a polygraph and a faith test on me after that and I’ll be 100% rock solid (steady) in my belief! With my newly acquired faith GOD will then have to grant me mercy in his Supreme Court. FANTASTIC!! I can multitask deadly sins and risk nothing basically!! I feel like a kid inside Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory! It’s like Pick’n’NOT Pay from the top shelf. The Vatican has added some modern vices to the traditional deadly sins… I must really update myself on optional vices. What was all that nonsense about negative focus??

Hi,

You put a different twist on religion and spirituality. Everybody is confused these days. There are so many beliefs out there it is insane. What is exactly right or wrong. So much of it has been defined and redefined over the centuries. I too saw that the catholic church added some new sins. One of them is "not trying to help the poor". Have you ever visited the Vatican? It is a city unto itself containing vast amounts of gold and priceless art. I had to laugh at the irony. I will only respect the catholic church (and I am a catholic) when they will allow priests to marry and get rid of pedophiles and they themselves start working for a living. I am reading a book entitled "A New Earth" by Eckard Tolle. This guy makes a lot of sense and defines hell as a place in our mind called the ego. He also wrote The Power of Now. In that book he explains that living in the moment is the key to happiness. Its a mind expander for me because as I am getting older I am really becoming confused as to what is out there beyong our lives and the Universe or not....

(Since I will not re-visit this website, if you have anything further to say to me, you can reach me at mihai_marcas@live.co.uk)

You assume the existence of God, and it exists for you, as a predicate for an afterlife. The first post on this blog is admirable in that it identifies, what many believe to be, the source of human error, and by your beliefs, sin. Is not worshiping God so that you may have an afterlife, a lust for existence? Are you not driven by ego that you cannot accept human limitations in terms of biological endurance?

Laws are not based on religious beliefs, if they were, we would be living in an extremely conservative society where the Science industry would be nonexistent. I do not mean to insult or belittle your ideology, but I personally do not believe a person needs religion to be essentially good. Religion, in many sectors however, preaches a restriction in the development of knowledge, I'm referring mainly to the deconstruction of the genome (e.g. for uses such as cloning animals to reduce starvation), we must instill a sense of general social concern and employ a blind judge of virtue by which to advance human civilization, religion thus far have proven to go against this aim in that younger people use it as an identity on which to base their entity.

Mihai Marcas (email sent with the same message!)

Thank you for your comment! I have a very relaxed relationship to religion, as one could maybe pick up between the lines. I make jokes about most things in life, religion included! For me this is just a light hearted thing and not a dead serious issue. I understand that other people have other views on religion and this is no attempt to offend anybody. If I did, I apologise! I just cannot cater for every palate out there. This is simply mine and for whoever wants to read it. I am a bit sad though that I put you so off that you swear not to come back! But like with the TV... you can always choose another channel or turn it off. That’s your privilege! Not all jokes are well received or appropriate. My daughter made some biscuits for the first time right now, and I asked if she put sunscreen as it took ages (for her) before they got the desired golden brown colour. No need to tell, that was not fun at all, so point taken!

Over to your comments then; I have tons of ego, drive and lust for life. I just don’t think there is anything much happening for me after death. I do believe in some laws of physics that I picked up at school though, especially one about energy. I believe a human is like a battery, but can only live for so long. The energy however, does not seize to exist... it just takes on another form. For instance friction turns into heat. For long I thought cremation would be the best thing for me. In this day and age however, with focus on environment, I’ve decided to go for a normal grave, 6 feet under! I might even want to go without a coffin. The quicker I turn into compost, I can actually produce some worms, some grass and various plants that will in turn produce some very sought after oxygen that our children will cherish and suck into their lungs. This is not at all a sad ending for me – that is my afterlife if you can so call it! So, to answer your question… I do accept the human biological limitations of endurance in the same form. I just recycle and fill a different role, that's all!

I accept that people believe in God and that they may have another life similar to the one they have today. People believe in many different things. I do not judge them, and they are fully allowed to. It makes existence (in this life mind you) interesting!

I don’t feel belittled, don’t worry! I am flattered to see that you call my viewpoints an ideology! I studied Marxism and a few others. An ideology is for me an observation and an interpretation of fundamental mechanisms in life and society, usually by great passionate minds that go down in history. I would label my views “joy of life” or “live life to the fullest”, but could hardly call it an ideology. It’s cut and paste from other great minds, mostly science I realize!

I do not believe you need to be religious to be good either. I believe there are good people of all religious and non religious beliefs! I am not 100% sure I understand you right or that you understood me… I am not a big fan of religion, but do not condemn it either, and that’s about it! Neither way can be proved 100%, but I’ve chosen to believe with a 99.5% certainty that there is no God. I leave a 0.5% chance that I’m wrong in other words, but I would not be sad if I was wrong! When it comes to being good, whether to manipulate genes or anything else, I think there are other things than religious concerns that should be considered. Religions have commandments and guidelines to live by that are no doubt good to stick to, like “You shall not kill!” Duh! I don’t need the commandments to tell that’s wrong. I believe religions are being abused for a number of reasons, which is only one more objection for me. As long as you don’t bother or harm other people though, I think it’s ok that people can practice their own beliefs!

The article you’ve commented on is meant to be light hearted, and not at all an attempt to ridicule religion though. I simply hope that people of any religious belief can see the humour in the twists that I make. I believe some of the quotes that I refer to are also old and do not necessarily represent the beliefs of people today! I will in return have no problem if people of religious belief make jokes about evolutionists like me.

Please do specify if I did not answer your question fully! It would be interesting if you could post on the same thread again though if you’d like to discuss further!

Sorry, when I said I wouldn't come back, I meant I don't ever read blogs and I don't have the time to check the blog anymore, I didn't mean to insult your writing. Your second paragraph has. by the way, improved my own views on the afterlife, i.e. returning to biological cycles for the preservation of future life. I personally do not believe God exists either, I'm personally an Ignostic, i.e. God must be defined before any discussion of him has any meaning. What did you think of Marx?

Mihai!
My misunderstanding then :-) I understand, as I had no clue what a blog was before I relocated and suddenly had too much of spare time!

Religion wise I think we are pretty much in the same boat then. I find some religious views and customs quite amusing, weird and contradictive at times. I some times make jokes about it for my own amusement, but don't mean to offend anybody though!

I'm glad you found something helpful in my blogging then :-) Inbetween a lot of nonsense there are actually some interesting things to be found on blogs around also.

The ideas behind Marxism and communism are generally good, although in my mind naive. I think they didn't account for the human factor... and the drive and lust for something more! I think approaches to implement it has failed terribly, but the closer example is probably my own home country Norway. It's a very socialistic society with very small differences between rich and poor, and the state handles and distributes the riches like our oil for instance. But even there, people wants more... and it would hamper progress to keep those people down, that wants to make more out of life!

Hi Jonny,

You seem to have a very balanced outlook on life ... I say THERE'S NOT ONE TRUTH OF ONE RELIGION THAT IS APPROPRIATE - Have you ever known someone whose life was not based on what you thought was moral or appropriate behavior? And yet, they continued to win. You know why? They don't listen to the other side of the argument and mix up their vibration. They focus upon and hold themselves in alignment with what they want—and the Universe delivers to them what they want.

It doesn't matter how many others stand back and claim injustice, foul play, or inappropriate, the law of the Universe always answers your vibration. And it doesn't have anything to do with what anybody else is doing—or thinks about what you're doing—unless you change your vibration because of what they think about what you're doing. That's why a variety of medical remedies work differently on different people. That's why a variety of religious intentions work for different people.

In the minute you try to limit anybody about anything, you are defying the Laws of the Universe. It cannot be done. We are an expanding Universe. It’s not our job to corral any of it or to control any of it or to curtail any of it or to inhibit any of it or to dispose of any of it or to drop a bomb on any of it... It is not our work to deal with those things we do not want. Our work is to let those things we do not want produce within us the clarity of what we do want and then find vibrational harmony with that.

Then, like a magnet, your world becomes a world that only has access to those things you have determined are the things you want to be. You are in no way inhibiting or preventing anyone else from living what they are living, but you are controlling and creating your own reality.

OTHERS CHOICES NEEDN’T THREATEN us when you understand these powerful universal laws, for you no longer feel a need for barricades or armies or wars, or jails, for you understand that you are free to create your world as you want it to be while others are creating their world as they choose it to be—and their choices don’t threaten you…

There are those things you are in absolute harmony with, and there are those things that you are in absolute disharmony with—and there is some of everything in between. You have not come forth to destroy or contain that which you do not agree with, for that is a continually changing thing.

In the minute you try to limit anybody about anything, you are defying the Laws of the Universe. It cannot be done. We are an expanding Universe.
